Wonders of Water Discovery Van
Gamifying hydration and turning everyday sips into a sustainable movement

The brief
While most people take clean, running water for granted, the journey it takes to get from source to tap is complex, fragile, and often misunderstood. We were asked to reframe Sydneysiders’ perspective on water through an engaging, mobile education platform — one that could travel, inform, and inspire. Our curious spark
How do you make the invisible journey of water visible? We brought it to life through augmented reality, storytelling, and gamification. The Wonders of Water Discovery Tour was born — an immersive AR van designed to deepen public understanding of the urban water cycle and reinforce Sydney Water’s reputation as a world-class utility innovator.
Why this campaign needed to make waves
Water scarcity isn’t a future problem — it’s a right-now challenge. With changing rainfall patterns and growing urban populations, cities like Sydney must adopt rainfall-independent water sources and rethink how communities engage with the water cycle. The Wonders of Water van was created to increase water literacy and drive home the reality that every drop counts.

Activating curiosity and creativity

Our curious crew at work
Creating a playful, impactful experience from the shell of a service van is no small task. Every element — from character development to gameplay to interface design — was guided by one big idea: water is wonderful. And when people understand it better, they value it more.

Proof that curiosity pays off
Increased water literacy
The interactive format helped audiences of all ages connect with a topic usually hidden underground.
Community engagement
From families to students, the van sparked curiosity and conversations in every suburb it visited.
Tour ready success
The self-contained, scalable format makes the WOW van a long-term asset for Sydney Water’s public education strategy.

Lessons in curiosity
This campaign showed that even the most everyday utilities can tell extraordinary stories. By asking, “How do we reimagine the water cycle?” we delivered a rolling reminder that water is precious, and the way we use it — and learn about it — should be just as innovative.
