DE Vic Station Ideation Mini Melbourne 2.0

Turning virtual city-building into an inspiring, real-world learning experience

Client:

Department of Education Victoria

The brief

The Department of Education Victoria and the Metro Tunnel Project had already brought Melbourne to life in Minecraft. Now, they wanted to take it further. The goal? Reimagine Mini Melbourne as a more dynamic learning experience that previewed the future Town Hall station — and empowered students to be the designers.

Our curious spark

How do you turn a digital train station into a classroom? You gamify it. We developed Mini Melbourne 2.0: a next-level Minecraft mission that challenged students to reimagine the new Town Hall station through Station Ideation — a design-led challenge that tested creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

Why this campaign mattered

Gamified education doesn’t just engage students — it transforms how they see the world. By letting young minds step inside the city’s future and shape it for themselves, this campaign connected curriculum outcomes with creativity, and education with real-world infrastructure.

Activating curiosity and creativity

Create a future-focused learning mission inside Minecraft where students explore, analyse, and redesign Melbourne’s new Town Hall station to better serve passengers of tomorrow.

We brought the idea to life at EduTech — Australia’s largest education expo — with a show-stopping installation:

A giant, immersive cube experience where educators could step inside a surround-view projection of the Town Hall station in Mini Melbourne.consequat.

A gamified learning experience built within Minecraft, designed to give students an interactive, virtual preview of the future Town Hall — and test their problem-solving skills at the same time.

We inspired teachers to imagine new ways of learning — not just through screens, but through storytelling, co-creation, and exploration.
