The Busker Triple Sessions

Bringing Irish whiskey and Japanese music culture together

Client:

Disaronno International

The brief

As The Busker Irish Whiskey expanded into Japan, the opportunity was to build meaningful connections between the drinks brand and the local music scene. We set out to create a culturally relevant platform that brought The Busker's 'Whiskey Made for Music' proposition to life through authentic partnerships with Japanese artists and venues.

Our curious spark

What if a whiskey brand could become part of the local music scene by giving its artists a platform to shine? We brought together The Busker's distinctive Triple Cask, Triple Smooth story with Japan's thriving live music culture, creating a partnership that celebrated local talent while introducing new audiences to the brand.

Why it matters

The strongest brand partnerships create value on both sides. By collaborating with local artists and venues, The Busker could contribute to Japan’s music culture while building brand awareness, encouraging product discovery and creating experiences that resonated with audiences both inside and beyond the venue.

Activating curiosity and creativity

Three intimate live music events bringing The Busker's triple-cask story to life through local artists, immersive whiskey experiences and content designed to travel beyond the venue.

Inspired by Triple Cask, Triple Smooth, each performance followed three musical chapters: Origins, exploring an artist's influences; Now, showcasing their current sound; and Blend, bringing those influences together in a new interpretation.

We collaborated with Japanese artists including singer-songwriter luvis and multi-instrumentalist TENDRE, hosting intimate performances at Tokyo's Music Bar Cave in Shibuya, with a third session planned for Osaka.

Bespoke lighting, Triple Sessions branding, branded glassware and signature Busker highballs transformed each venue into an experience that celebrated both the music and the whiskey.

Artist interviews, live performance footage and behind-the-scenes storytelling extended the sessions across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and The Busker's owned channels.

Limited-edition packaging, bottle promotions and opportunities to win Busker-branded speakers connected the music platform with retail, creating further opportunities for discovery and purchase.

Our curious crew at work

Curious Nation led the end-to-end strategy, creative development, event design and production, and helped guide content creation, social media, and campaign delivery. Working with Disaronno International, Japanese distributor Whisk-e and local agency partners, alongside MassiveMusic for talent and licensing, we created a culturally relevant platform that connected The Busker’s Irish roots with Japan’s music scene.

Proof that curiosity pays off

Lessons in curiosity

Great brand experiences become part of the culture they’re entering. By embracing Japan’s local music scene and turning The Busker’s product story into a creative format, Triple Sessions showed how curiosity can help brands connect with new audiences in meaningful ways.

Sometimes, the best way to make a brand heard is to give someone else the stage.
